New ceiling fan installed on a vaulted bamboo ceiling of a Bali villa

Minor electrical work in a Bali villa falls into a grey area between proper licensed electrical work and basic maintenance. Replacing a bulb, tightening a loose socket cover, or swapping a faulty light switch are straightforward tasks. Anything involving wiring, MCB work, or new circuit installation requires a qualified electrician. We handle the maintenance end of this range — the jobs that need doing promptly but don't require a full electrical contractor. For more complex electrical work, we refer to licensed partners.

Minor Electrical Services

Light Fitting Replacement

Replace faulty light fittings — ceiling pendants, wall lights, bathroom fixtures — where the existing wiring is sound and connections are standard. LED downlight replacement is particularly common in Bali villa maintenance as original fittings age.

Switch & Socket Repair

Replace faulty light switches, loose socket outlets, damaged cover plates. Carry common fitting types in Bali's standard format (Schneider, Broco and equivalent).

Bulb Replacement

Accessible and high-access bulb replacement including high ceiling and outdoor lighting. We carry common LED types on the van.

Fan Installation

Ceiling fan installation where the existing ceiling outlet is in place. New outlet installation (requiring wiring work) referred to our electrical partners.

What We Can and Can't Do

Being clear about this protects you. As a handyman service we do the maintenance-level electrical jobs that need doing promptly and safely but don't require a full electrical contractor — anything where the existing wiring is sound and we're simply replacing or installing a fitting on a live point. We do not open up the consumer unit, run new circuits, alter the supply, or attempt fault-finding on the wiring itself. In Bali, where many villas have older or informally extended installations, knowing where that line sits matters. When a job crosses it, we say so honestly and hand it to one of our licensed electrical partners rather than improvising.

We handle

Light fittings and LED downlights, faulty switches and sockets, cover plates, bulb replacement (including high ceilings and outdoor lights), ceiling fan installation on existing outlets, and tightening loose fittings.

We refer out

New circuits and outlets, consumer-unit / MCB work, rewiring, supply faults, RCD tripping diagnosis, and anything inside the wiring. These go to a licensed electrician.

How We Handle a Minor Electrical Job

  1. Confirm it's a maintenance job

You describe the problem over WhatsApp — a flickering light, a dead socket, a fan to install. We confirm it's within handyman scope before quoting, so there are no surprises on the day.

  2. Isolate safely

We switch off at the relevant breaker and verify the point is dead before working. Damp, salt air and older fittings make this non-negotiable in Bali.

  3. Replace with the right fitting

We use common Indonesian-standard fittings (Schneider, Broco and equivalent) and carry frequent types on the van, so most jobs finish on the first visit.

  4. Test and tidy

We test the fitting under load, check nothing else was disturbed, and leave the area clean.

Common Bali Electrical Maintenance Jobs

The calls we see most: original halogen downlights failing and being upgraded to LED across a whole villa; outdoor and garden lights corroding in the humid, salty coastal air around Canggu, Seminyak and Uluwatu; loose sockets and cracked cover plates after years of guest use; bathroom extractor and fan replacement; and ceiling fans added to bedrooms that already have a suitable outlet. None of these need a contractor — they need someone reliable who turns up with the right parts.
